Results of the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic games
The 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games were an international sports event held in Buenos Aires, Argentina between 6 and 18 October 2018.
241 sets of awards have been played. In addition to the traditional 28 sports, there were 3 new Olympic sports included such as break dance, karate, sports climbing, and 3 non-Olympic sports such as acrobatic gymnastics, mini-football and 3x3 basketball. Age of competitors – 2001/2002 years of birth.
The Russian Olympic team has won the first place in medal ranking in Buenos Aires. Russian athletes won 29 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze medals. China’s team ranks second, with 18 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze medals. The Japanese are ranked third, with 15 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze medals.
The WKF junior karate tournament within the framework of the Games was held on October 17th-18th, in which 48 athletes from 33 countries took part – England (2 athletes), Argentina (2); Belgium, Hungary, Guatemala, Greece, Denmark, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Ireland, Iran (5); Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Morocco (3); Norway, New Zeland, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia (Robert Avakimov, Anna Chernyshova), Serbia, Slovakia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey (2); Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, Montenegro, Chile , Estonia, Japan (6 ).
Competitions were held in six kumite weight categories (three for boys and girls). 8 participants per category.
Anna Chernysheva (Russia) won silver medal in the category up to 59 kg. And another Russian athlete Robert Avakimov was the fifth in the weight category over 68 kg.
